Casseroles for Any Season

Casseroles have been around for many decades. Casseroles for any season is always a great list to have. But what exactly does it mean by “casserole”? Let’s look at that for a minute….

What makes a casserole a casserole?

“The term “casserole” can refer to any dish prepared in a casserole dish—essentially a deep, wide baking dish—and baked in the oven. A casserole can have layers, as in the case of an Italian lasagna or a deep-dish pizza. Or composed of some evenly distributed combination of veggies, a protein, and a starchy binder.”

When is the best time to serve a casserole?

Any time is a great time for a casserole. And casseroles for any season come in best when you are needing to feed a large group of people or even a small group.  It makes mealtime/meal prep easier on the hostess also.  Placing everything into one pan or dish is always an easy meal and makes for easy clean-up.  When I am planning a meal with a casserole, I try to make two different types so my company can have a pick of what they might like.
