Apples are always a good item to bake with and apple fritter bread is just one of many recipes. In the fall, apples are readily available, and the taste of fresh apples is just wonderful. When your family comes into the kitchen and smells the apple fritter bread baking, they will stay awhile and visit. What could be more wonderful?
We thought we would share one of our favorite recipes for a quick bread or apple fritter bread so you can add it to your recipe box. We also want to take a minute to explain why we call this a “quick bread” recipe.
Quick bread is any bread does not need to be leavened like yeast or sourdough starter. An advantage of quick breads is the ability to be prepared quickly and reliably, without requiring the time-consuming labor and the climate control needed for traditional yeast breads.

Directions
- Step 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use a 9×5-inch loaf pan and spray with non-stick spray or line with parchment paper and spray with non-stick spray to get out easily for slicing.
- Step 2 Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl. Set aside.
- Step 3 In another medium-sized bowl, beat white sugar and butter together creamy.
- Step 4 Add eggs, 1 at a time, until blended in
- Step 5 add in vanilla extract.
- Step 6 Combine & whisk flour and baking powder together in another bowl and then mix into creamed butter mixture and stir until blended.
- Step 7 Add milk into batter and cream until smooth.
- Step 8 Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan
- Step 9 add half the chopped apple mixture.
- Step 10 Sprinkle 1/2 of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture on top of apple layer.
- Step 11 Pour the remaining batter over apple layer and top with remaining chopped apples, then the remaining brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.
- Step 12 Lightly pat apples into batter
- Step 13 swirl brown sugar mixture through apples using knife or spoon.
- Step 14 Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean, approximately 50-60 minutes.
- Step 15 To make glaze, mix powdered sugar and milk or cream together until well mixed.
- Step 16 Allow bread to cool for about 15 minutes before drizzling with glaze.
- Step 17 Baking options: Bake 30-40 min. for 2 loaf recipe, 15-20 minutes for muffins or 50 -60 minutes for one full loaf recipe or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
