Slow Cooker Easy Meat Sauce

Having a good meat sauce can come in handy for many meal ideas.  It can be kept in the freezer also so go ahead and make up a large batch at one time and portion it out in the size containers that will meet your needs.  The meat sauce is not expensive to make and so it goes great with any size budget. You can make changes or add other ingredients to make it a family favorite in your kitchen. Some moms will hide certain vegetables in their meat sauce and their children never even know it.  Adding in different vegetables also helps adults to meet their daily servings without having to make extra side dishes.  A good sauce can be one of the best things to add to your dishes even if you have never thought about it before. 

When the farmers’ markets are back open with full stock, grab as many items as you can for this recipe and your family will thank you.  So get to it with this easy meat sauce recipe and enjoy it with many different dishes.

Slow Cooker Easy Meat Sauce

Slow cook on low for 4 hours

  • • 3 lbs ground beef
  • • 1 large white onion, chopped
  • • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • • 4 (24 oz) Jars of your favorite sauce (& flavors of choice)
  • Step 1 1. In a medium saute pan cook ground beef and onions until meat is browned and onions are soft and fragrant.
  • Step 2 2. Drain any grease and add to the slow cooker.
  • Step 3 3. Add in the green pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes, and Italian Seasoning.
  • Step 4 4. Pour in the sauce, give it a stir, and cover and cook on low for at least 4 hours.
  • Step 5 **Notes: this makes a big batch of sauce. Freeze in containers or ziplock bags in portions for other dishes.
